Scope and content: Diplomas, certificates, and similar items relating to the Warner and Frazer families of Nashville, Tenn., most relating to their attendence at Ward Seminary for Young Ladies, University of Nashville, Cumberland University, and First Presbyterian Church.

Items in box 1 relate to the Warner family and include 18 diplomas and certificates of proficiency in various classes from Ward Seminary for Young Ladies, 1896-1902 for the following individuals: Margaret Warner (1 item); Mary Louise Warner (4 items); and Sadie Warner (13 items).

Items in box 2 relate to the Frazer family and include: George A. Frazer, Vanderbilt University law school, 1901; James S. Frazer, Cumberland University law school, University of Nashville, Montgomery Bell Academy, 1869-1873; Margaret Lindsley Frazer, Elizabeth V. Brown School in Washington, D.C. 1926 and First Presbyterian Church, Nashville, Tenn. 1912; Percy Warner Frazer, First Presbyterian Church, 1913; Shelby Williams Frazer, First Presbyterian Church, 1914. Documents relating to the First Presbyterian Church are signed by pastor James I. Vance.

Biographical or Historical Data
Sadie Warner Frazer was born in 1885 and died in 1974. She was the daughter of Percy and Margaret (Lindsley) Warner and was a devoted local historian. Margaret and Mary Louise Warner were her sisters.

James Stokes Frazer served as a member in the House of the Tennessee General Assembly, 1877-1879, representing Davidson County as a Democrat. His son, George Augustine Frazer, also joined the legal profession, and spent the bulk of his career as a captain in the Judge Advocate General's Dept. of the U.S. Army, serving throughout the country. George married Sadie Lindsley Warner, a daughter of Percy Warner, in 1905. Margaret Lindsley Frazer and Percy Warner Frazer were two of George and Sadie Frazer's children. The relationship of Shelby Williams Frazer to this family is unknown.
