Description
Scope and content:The Nashville Chapter American Women in Radio and Television (AWRT) newsletters document the group's board meetings, fundraising projects and member activities. The collection spans the years 1960-1984 and is incomplete, missing many issues from the 1970s. The newsletters reflect the growth of women in the workplace, specifically in the broadcast industry. Notable members were Drue Smith and Doris "Cousin Tuny" Freeman. Also included in the collection is the AWRT national newsletter, "AWRT News and Views" from 1964-1965. Featured in it are photos of Nashville Chapter, AWRT members Olean Holloway, Juanita Jones, Evelyn McDonald and Drue Smith.
