Description
Many ecosystems are fragile; they depend on a delicate balance between living and non-living components. Changes to one part bring changes to other parts, and often the consequences can be disastrous. For this reason, fragile environments, particularly those that are popular with human visitors, require careful managing to ensure the ecological balance is maintained. This film focuses on Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve on the Lincolnshire coast. Head of the Wash Study Center, Rachel Kirby, takes us through a range of management issues faced by the reserve and various strategies employed to maintain an appropriate balance between the natural environment and human activities.
